ABOUT US

We live in green times. Sustainability is increasingly present in our lives, in the corporate world and in industries. In commerce, ecological certificates and seals stamp “green products” to win over the public aware of their responsibility.

World demand for wood has increased by 64% since the 1960s and continues to rise, felling hundreds of millions of trees across the globe. In Brazil, almost half of the forest landscape has already been extinct. Wood is an important raw material for the manufacture of musical instruments. The search draws attention to the variety of species used (about 200), the search for noble woods (based on the idea that old woods produce superior tone and depth) and the desire for woods with an exotic aspect to obtain different instruments.

Today, in the US alone, the leader in the sale of acoustic and electric guitars, more than 3 million items are purchased annually. It is not surprising that the favorite woods of the big producers have become increasingly difficult and expensive to obtain. Sadly, 70 of the species used to manufacture instruments are now threatened with extinction, such as jacaranda and spruce.

On the other hand, there are musicians who resist changes in the way their beloved instruments are made for fear of losing the sound that makes them so special.

But after all, is there any other way to enjoy our instruments without weight on our conscience?

Eco Guitar was born with this in mind and set out to transform, in a sustainable way, Brazilian wood into musical instruments. Luthieria carries in its name what moves it: the raw material of the instruments comes from the streets or from reforested wood and are transformed into guitars and basses with unique characteristics and singular timbres.

The brand's history began in 2014 when radio host Pedro Machado decided to unite his appreciation for guitars, experience in the audio field and a sustainable proposal. The differential of this luthieria permeates all stages of production: the choice of boards, the treatment given to the pieces, electrical installation, painting, finishing and adjustment. The result is unique.
